Family Group Supporter on our Big Plan Programme

RU a good communicator, enthusiastic, friendly and have a positive attitude towards people with Down's syndrome?

Volunteers wanted to help us run a Big Plan Programme. The Big Plan brings together a group of people with Down’s syndrome and their families and friends to plan for a good life. It helps people think about their life just now, gifts, dreams and aspirations. Everyone will work towards a plan and actions steps to help them achieve their goals.

Volunteers are ‘Family Group or Team Supporters’ and will be matched to a family or team to support throughout The Big Plan sessions. Team Supporters help the person with Down’s syndrome with the poster exercises and fun activities and encourage group participation ensuring that the focus person has a say throughout the process.

The Big Plan starts 18 April 2013 and runs over 5 evening sessions every 2 weeks. We’re looking for volunteers who can commit to all of the dates. We aim to have the volunteers working with the same family every session.

No experience necessary but a positive attitude towards people with Down’s syndrome is essential. Must work to and believe in the ethos of treating people the way you want to be treated. Good listener, friendly, outgoing and great communicator.

Travel expenses are paid.
