Description

Plusone seeks to use the skills and life experience of local volunteer mentors to engage with young people across Scotland aged 8-14 within their own communities. Mentors develop positive and trusting relationships with the young people and help equip the young people with skills and knowledge to make informed choices.

We are looking to recruit volunteers for both the Dundee and Angus projects. Volunteers are to be 18 or over and be able to commit to 1-2 hours of volunteering every week for a year.

Volunteers would complete training that would include confidentiality, child protection, lone working and exploration of what a mentor is. Through out your work with the young person that the volunteer would be matched to, the volunteers will be supported by the programme manager.

Activities that the mentor would undertake with the young person would be chosen by the pair but so far have included everything from sports and arts and crafts to going to the cinema and cooking/baking. The list is endless!

If you would like to find out more about this volunteering programme then please do not hesitate to get in touch with the programme manager for your area;

- Dundee - Angie Farrell - 01382 456012 or angie@alcoholtayside.com

- Angus - Kate Wood - 01241 872989 or kate@alcoholtayside,com
