Description

Volunteer with Over The Wall to gain incredible experience, change lives and have fun!
Over The Wall provides free of charge residential activity camps to children and young people aged 8-17 affected by serious illness and their families. We give seriously ill children and their families a week of experiences that are memorable, fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound- but we require a group of superb volunteers to make the magic happen.
Our Camp Recorders are hugely important. Through taking photographs they record the journey of our Campers, capturing their achievements and the magic moments they experience whilst participating in Camp activities. Campers will be able to look back on these photos and remember what they experienced; reflecting on how they have developed new skills and achieved things they never thought they were capable of. This is an essential stage of our Camp model ‘Therapeutic Recreation’ (please see our website for more information.)

As Camp Recorder you will be photographing Campers as they perform a wide range of activities including Drama, Music, Arts and Crafts, Discovery, Sports and Games. You will then be required to create a slideshow of the photos you have collected which will be displayed to all Campers at the end of the week.

You will be fully briefed before Camp begins about what is required of you, and ongoing training and support is provided throughout Camp.

This is an excellent opportunity for budding Photographers to gain experience in a dynamic environment and work with a reputable national organisation.

All of the Over The Wall camps are residential over a range of 3 -5 nights. Our Volunteers are required to attend up to 2 nights before our Campers arrive for training, team building and preparation. Full training and ongoing support is provided throughout camp.

Volunteers have to make their own way to camp (Over The Wall provides a pick up and drop off to the local train station.)

We provide all food and accommodation for the duration of Camp.

This opportunity will assist you in gaining the following skills:

  • Interpersonal/Confidence
  • Teamwork
