Description

Our project, Sustainable Connections Transport Team, provides the simplest and the most effective way to support individuals.

Through this fun opportunity you can spruce your CV, improve your skills with many of our courses and gain experience that will make you stand out while applying for jobs.

Our clients live in isolation due to lack of self-confidence. This can result from limited mobility, impaired sight or simply loneliness. A companion is the solution for the problem.

Glenda lives alone, with no family or friends nearby. Peter, our volunteer companion, helps her every second week to get on a bus and they visit various venues. Could you believe that Glenda did not go out for 4 years? A cup of tea and an hour of chat with Peter brings smile on her face.

Volunteers are matched with individuals who may require a companion. This involves a wide range of activities, mostly for fun. Some clients need a companion while using public transport, others would love to have someone to chat to and grab a cup of coffee. We will pay for your expenses, including bus tickets.

Our volunteers are welcome to take any of our professional courses. This can include British Sign Language, First Aid, Sensory Impairment Awareness, Guiding of People and many more.
