Description

Recruiting Sessional Volunteers is new to Befriend a Child, therefore we felt asking students whose field may relate to vulnerable children in the future would be beneficial to both us and you! This type of volunteering would be suited to people that would like to help out with one off events and/or our playschemes, Kids are GO! project and youth club.

We really need some enthusiastic volunteers on board for all the projects listed above. Another of the reasons we have targeted colleges and universities for this volunteering opportunity is because some of you will be off on weekdays where a lot of our befrienders are not due to work commitments.

The only thing we ask is that you are over 19 and are willing to provide two personal referees, attend our in-house induction and training and agree to a PVG check being carried out. There are no requirements in terms of amount of days you volunteer or length of service, it is very much up to you!

Should you wish to become a volunteer with us, I can support you to record your volunteering with the Saltire awards which would look excellent on your CV.

This opportunity will assist you in gaining the following skills:

  • Interpersonal/Confidence
  • Teamwork
  • Problem solving/Creativity
  • Leadership/Management

Training will be provided by the organisation for this position:

Volunteers will be required to undertake our in house volunteer training. This consists of an induction, child protection training and substance misuse.

About you

The organisation has indicated the following requirements from volunteers who want to take this opportunity.

Essential: over 19 and provide two personal referees, attend our in-house induction and training and agree to a PVG check being carried out.
